Singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist Sam Chase is set to release his third LP Lift Me Up on Saturday, November 26 at The River Club Music Hall in his hometown of Scituate, MA.

Since the release of his 2nd record, Every Time I'm Home (2011), Chase moved to Portland, ME with the goal of establishing himself in an unfamiliar market. In Maine he found inspiration, both in the beauty of the landscape and the people who live there, as well as the incredible talent that makes up the local music scene. "I felt like I grew into myself in Portland. The people are so friendly and the musicians in town bring it every night - it's hard not to be inspired to go home and practice. And the food..."

Taking a different approach this time around, Lift Me Up is a self produced, one man band effort consisting of eight original songs featuring Chase performing all of the instrumentation himself as well as handling engineering duties.

"With the exception of drums, this is a home made record. I wasn't interested in fundraising it, nor did I have the budget to make that 'Nashville' type record. I have the recording background so I figured why not use it."

With a full tank of gas and a recording studio in the back of his car, Chase would make his weekly trek from Portland to Scituate (136 miles as the song "Pine Street" can attest), teaching his private students during the afternoons and working on the record day and night. Come Thursday he'd pack it all up and head home to Portland only to do the same thing again on Tuesday. "It made the weeks fly by I'll tell you that," he says, laughing. "It's not easy being married to a musician. But my wife inspires me more than anyone. Without her in my life these songs wouldn't exist."

Much like his previous two records, love is a theme that runs deep on Lift Me Up, with the title track also touching on ideas of hope in the face of darkness.

"I'm a fairly optimistic person but also a realist. Addiction doesn't just affect the individual, it affects the entire family. And I've seen it go both ways. Lift Me Up was inspired by those that were able to find hope in that darkness and get the help they needed. Maybe it can help inspire hope in someone whose in need of it now."

After three years of living in Maine, Chase and his wife Kelly are back home living on the South Shore. "It feels good to be home. I'm excited for people to hear this record and to get the chance to play these songs live in my hometown on the 26th."
